Dubai Police tighten security before India–Pakistan Asia Cup clash; strict fines, jail and special units on alert

As the India-Pakistan clash is set to begin in about an hour at the Dubai International Stadium for a Group A match in the 2025 Asia Cup, excitement is at its peak. The high-profile encounter follows India’s earlier win over Pakistan at the same venue during the Champions Trophy and marks the first game between the two sides since the April Pahalgam terror attack and the tense standoff that followed. With such a big game on the cards, Dubai Police and the Events Security Committee have announced strict safety rules for spectators, warning of heavy fines and possible jail for anyone breaking the law.

Special units deployed and strict action promised

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police and head of the ESC, announced that special teams have been stationed for the India–Pakistan game. He said immediate action would be taken against any troublemakers and warned that any threat to public safety would be met with firm legal steps.The Federal Law on the Security of Sports Facilities and Events also sets out clear punishments. Entering the ground without permission or bringing banned items—like fireworks, flammable goods, lasers, umbrellas, large cameras, selfie sticks, sharp tools, toxic substances, flags, banners, animals, remote-controlled gadgets, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, or glass items—can lead to one to three months in jail and fines of Dh5,000 to Dh30,000 (₹1.2 lakh to ₹7.2 lakh). Acts of violence, throwing objects, or using racist or abusive words can also bring fines up to Dh30,000 along with jail time.

Guidelines for fans heading to the match

Officials said these measures are meant to protect players, fans, and staff so that the match can take place in a safe setting. The ESC has advised all ticket holders to reach the venue at least three hours before kickoff and to carry valid entry passes. People have also been told not to park in restricted spots or block roads near the stadium.
